FREE FISHING FOR FLOUNDER, FAMILY FUN, AND PRIZES

Sandy Hook, NJ - Fish for flat-out fun during Clean Ocean Action's 15th Annual Memorial Flounder Tournament on Saturday, April 4, at legendary Bahrs Landing in Highlands, NJ. Continental breakfast and the "Blessing of the Waters Ceremony" at 9am. Weigh-in is from 3-5pm, followed by an Awards Ceremony and distribution of prizes.

This fun-filled free fishing tournament celebrates a new fishing season at the Jersey Shore and honors Monmouth County's John Murphy, local fishing legend, and Bob Hunter, ocean advocate and tournament founder. The purpose is to raise awareness about how citizens can make a difference and generate funds for Clean Ocean Action's work to cleanup and protect the ocean.

A $300 prize and coveted Flounder Trophy by artist Chuck Abel awaits the angler who catches the heaviest fish. Second prize is $150 and third prize is $75. Every child who weighs-in a fish receives a free gift. The recreational minimum size limit is 12 inches and the possession limit is ten.

"Bahrs Landing is thrilled to continue to give back to the community by hosting Clean Ocean Action's Annual Flounder Tournament. Join us on this special day as we kick off a new fishing season and raise awareness of COA's efforts to protect and cleanup the ocean," Jay Cosgrove.

Register for free at www.CleanOceanAction.org or at the event. Registrants must be present at the event at 5pm to accept prizes. Anglers and non-anglers are invited to attend the dayŐs festivities and enjoy an auction of fishing gear and other goodies, door prizes, raffles, childrenŐs games, and refreshments, including Bahrs LandingŐs famous seafood chili and chowder.

During April, The Cosgrove Family will donate 10% of "Bahrs To Go" orders to benefit Clean Ocean Action when you mention the word "Flounder." Orders may be placed by mobile device or at www.bahrstogo.com . Help us "To Go" fight ocean pollution by eating on the go!

At the Tournament, COA's Student Ocean Advocates, a volunteer student group from high schools across Monmouth County, will highlight COA's anti-LNG campaign, Clean Ocean Zone initiative, and a new "Call to Action Campaign". During this year-long Campaign, ocean advocates make environmentally-friendly pledges that range from switching to reusable bags and energy-efficient light bulbs to signing petitions and contacting their elected officials about ocean issues. As a nod to COA's quarter century of efforts on behalf of the environment, the goal of the "Call to Action Campaign" is to inspire 25,000 citizens to pledge 25 ways to save the ocean.
