Jay's NO BULL Fishing Report
OCTOBER 16 2006
<< back to articles

THE BIG BASS ARE IN !!! The striped bass fishing has really picked up in the last couple of days. Eels are the ticket, but I have been seeing more and more bass working on top under the birds. Sunday, yesterday, we had aboard the Bill Kaner group. We eeled all day and ended up with 8 very nice bass to 38". Two of the stripers went 20 lbs!! And the samllest bass was 31". Not a bad day when you can say that! We had other bites and some others on but were lost. Right in the beginning of the trip in the morning, Bill Kaner Sr. hooked a very nice striper. He fought it for 3-4 minutes, and it just simply let go. Judging by the bend in the rod and the drag going out and Bill not being able to make any head way on the fish for that time, I believe it would have been the biggest of the day. Between 25 and 30 lbs. The hook just simply pulled. There is plenty of action as the bluefish are still there and turning out eels into stogies !!
