Randy Sloyer and Matthew Sloyer from Westchester, PA, Peter Longo from Bud Lake, NJ, Leonard Longo from Glenside, PA, Vincent Cattano from Roxbury, PA, and Joseph Manereo from Glenside, PA chartered the KKAT on a rainy blustery Wednesday and loaded up on stripers up to 22lbs. They were drifting eels by the 12 and 14 buoy in the Sandy Hook Channel.
Capt Rich reports from last week:
The featured charter of the week is the Mike Kochen party. We went weakfishing and had a pretty good day. We landed weakfish up to 20" and many smaller ones, keeping 20 fish. We also threw back plenty of "spikes," about 12" fish which I guess bodes well for the future. They were hitting sandworms in the Reach channel. The water tempature was still high at about 66.2 degrees. This three day stretch of bad weather will probably push out the weakfish but start the bass biting.
KKAT REPORTS:
Excellent eeling for striped bass today. The Bud Ginsberg party from Hackensack had a limit of bass to 22 pounds, plus over 20 shorts released, during the morning flood tide. The Len Longo party from Bethlehem, PA, had eight keepers to 15 pounds plus 16 shorts during the afternoon ebb, where an east wind and rain made conditions rough and uncomfortable.
ELAINE B is now running a Thursday Night Bass trip leaving from Bahrs at 6:45.
Hi-Mar tourney to be held this weekend.
